Biography
Napheesa Collier (born September 23, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA and co-founder of the Unrivaled league. Born in Jefferson City, Missouri, Collier excelled at the University of Connecticut, winning the 2016 NCAA championship. Drafted 6th overall by the Lynx in 2019, she immediately made an impact, scoring 27 points in her debut and earning Rookie of the Year honors. Over six seasons, Collier has become one of the league's premier players, earning five All-Star selections, two Olympic gold medals (2020, 2024), and the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year award. She co-founded Unrivaled with Breanna Stewart to provide WNBA players better off-season opportunities. As WNBPA vice president, Collier has been vocal about player rights and recently criticized WNBA leadership for poor communication and officiating issues. Despite a recent playoff injury, she remains an active and influential figure in women's basketball.
