Biography
Russell Westbrook III (born November 12, 1988) is an American professional basketball player who is currently an unsigned free agent. Born in Long Beach, California, Westbrook played college basketball at UCLA before being selected 4th overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2008 NBA Draft. He spent 11 seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, forming a dynamic duo with Kevin Durant and earning eight All-Star selections. Westbrook's 2016-17 MVP season saw him average a triple-double (31.6 PPG, 10.7 RPG, 10.4 APG) and break Oscar Robertson's single-season triple-double record. He holds the NBA record for most career triple-doubles (211) and is the only player to average a triple-double in four different seasons. After stints with Houston, Washington, the Lakers, and Clippers, Westbrook played for the Denver Nuggets in 2024-25 before declining his player option to become a free agent. Known for his explosive athleticism, intensity, and competitive drive, Westbrook has been named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team and won two Olympic gold medals with Team USA.
